Our featured artist June Beverly has been a practicing artist for 50 years. Her artistic academic honors and degrees include:

  • An Associate of Fine Arts (AA) Degree from the Maryland College of Arts and Design.
  • A Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from Florida’s most prestigious art school, The Ringling School of Art and Design.
  • A scholarship from the Maryland Institute, College of Arts.
  • Being selected for membership on both the community college and four college lists of Outstanding Students in American Universities and Colleges.
  • Having won a number of awards from works in both oil and pastel. These works include an oil painting of the home of the first governor of Colorado, an abstract expressionist “War Protest” piece created in oil on loose hanging canvas that was shown in the “Best of Ringling Awards Exhibit for 1991.”
  • And, in addition, having received numerous awards and commissions for the use of pastel in the creation of small animal portraits as well as combinations of still life and felines.

Mrs. Beverly has exhibited in California, Colorado, Maryland and Florida. She organized the gallery, Fine Art on Broadway in Ocala in 1992 and was President of Shake Rag Arts in Melrose, 2009-2013.

Dinner proceeds support The Melrose Center and its programs. The music begins at 5:00pm tonight and is presented by Common Thread and Shake Rag Productions, Non-Profit community music programs.
